Sakhisizwe Local Municipality is a Category B municipality (Area: 2 355km²) made up of the main towns of Cala and Khowa as well as surrounding rural villages and farms. It is a category B4 type (61% rural) municipality situated within the Chris Hani District in the Eastern Cape Province, and is the smallest of six in the district, making up 6% of its geographical area. It is bordered by the Joe Gqabi District to the north, Intsika Yethu to the south, Engcobo to the east, and Emalahleni to the west. The main administrative office of the Municipality is situated in Cala.
